Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-27
This Privacy Policy describes how Scoutzera ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you upload a cut, brief your editor with timestamped notes and drawings on the frame, and share the result by link (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information. You sign in with Google. We receive your name and email address from Google as part of that sign-in.
- Content you create. The videos you upload, the 720p web preview we generate from each upload, the timestamped notes you pin to the timeline, the drawings you layer on the frame, the project metadata you set, and the share-link tokens you generate.
- Share-link activity. Basic access events for the read-only links you generate — for example, when a link is opened — so you can see that your editor reached the brief.
- Billing information. If and when you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects payment details; we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
- Technical data. IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Store your uploads, generate a 720p web-friendly preview, and stream the video back to you and to anyone you've sent a share link.
- Deliver your timestamped notes and frame drawings to viewers of your tokenized read-only share links.
- Communicate with you about your account, billing, and product updates.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your videos, notes, or drawings to train any machine-learning model — ours or anyone else's.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run Scoutzera: Cloudflare R2 for video object storage, Supabase for our database and authentication layer, Google for OAuth sign-in, and (if you're on a paid plan) our payment processor. These providers are bound by contract to use your data only to deliver their service to us.
4. Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Uploaded videos, the previews we generate, timestamped notes, and frame drawings stay in your account until you delete them or close your account. You can rotate a share-link token at any time to invalidate the old one, or revoke sharing entirely; deleting a brief also revokes every share link tied to it. Billing records are retained as required by tax and accounting laws.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the product.
